The Village of Walden Proudly announces our 2018 Leadership Day honorees!! Please join us as we celebrate at our Awards Ceremony to be held on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at 6:30pm, Bradley Assembly Room, 3rd Floor of the Municipal Building! Congratulations to all!!

- Jason Trafton, 2017 Mary Jean “Midge” Norman Volunteer of the Year
- Bridget Urbanski, Ronald I. Jacobowitz Youth of the Year
- The Wesenberg Family (Melvin, Carolyn, Sonia, & Jada), Sam Phelps Service Award
- Hudson Valley Conservatory, 2017 Community Business of the Year
- Our keynote speaker is Nancy Proyect, President of the Orange County Citizens Foundation

Mary Jean “Midge” Norman Volunteer of the Year – This will be given to an individual who shows outstanding volunteerism while displaying character traits that would make all of us as Village of Walden residents proud. This individual must either work or live in the Village limits and have a profound impact on our community and serve as an example for others to follow.
Ronald I. Jacobowitz Youth of the Year Scholarship – This award will be given to a graduating high school student who displays outstanding leadership, volunteerism, above average work ethic, and has shown to have a profound impact in their school and/or community. This individual must live within the Village limits.
Sam Phelps Service Award – This award will be given to an individual, group (not specifically an organized group… ex: father and son) for living a life dedicated to public service. This service award is named after the late Sam Phelps for his spirit, philanthropy, volunteerism, and the great pleasure he took from giving back to his local community. This individual or group must live/operate within the Village limits.
Community Business of the Year – This award shall be given to a Walden business that demonstrates outstanding community support and involvement, is dedicated to the betterment of our community while displaying leadership characteristics that encourage Village of Walden residents and businesses to do the same. This business must be located within the Village of Walden
