Update from the 2pm Conference Call:
The County is encouraging all school districts to close Monday and Tuesday. Please check your district websites for updates.
Walden will likely only get 4+ inches of rain, less than Irene but significantly stronger winds and for a much longer period of time.
The Wallkill River will rise significantly, likely similar to Irene.
The storm surge and high winds on t
he Hudson will be significant. The bridges will close once sustained winds pass 40mph, the state DOT will make that decision and monitor those winds. They are calling for the crest on the Hudson to occur late Monday.
The winds will start tonight October 28 and steadily increase. Tropical storm force winds will continue for 24-40 hours. Downed trees and power lines will be our biggest concern with widespread power outages.
I will send another update after the next County conference call.
